About the Author
Willard Watson III
is a jack of all trades, a man about town, author, illustrator, bassist, gamer, & root beer connoisseur.
Originally from Fayetteville, North Carolina, Willard has called the High Country home since 2008. When choosing to move to Boone for college, he didn’t realize he was really returning home, well his name was anyway. Willard learned that he was named after a local legend and quickly found himself in a new world, Appalachia. After falling in love with the High Country community he began working on non-profit arts festivals like the Doc & Rosa Lee Watson Musicfest and the High Country Beer Fest.
After a decade in the non-profit arts sector he decided to put his masters degree in Appalachian Studies to good use and finally write a book, turns out it is a comic book about his great-grandpa’s accidental acid trip!
When not staffing an event, he enjoys spending time with his life partner and co-producer Lauren, and their cat, Chili.
In addition to his work on Ramblin’ Hobo, Willard also enjoys designing event posters.
